Software / Web App Community Platform User-Generated Content

DentonUnderground.com

Early digital-photo community site for the Denton scene, years before social photo-sharing existed.

1999 - 2001 · Completed

A local community website Scott ran for Denton, TX. The hook: Scott and collaborators went out to venues and events with a digital camera, photographed the crowd, and posted the shots afterward, so people came back to find themselves in the previous night's photos.

Digital cameras were still new and expensive, and the social-photo era was years off, making candid event photos a genuinely fresh draw that built repeat traffic. Predates Flickr (2004) and the whole user-generated-photo wave.

Started as Tempest Digital Solutions wound down and Scott returned to GodGames; shut down when he moved to Austin in late 2000/early 2001 — he had just relocated when he spoke at SXSW in March 2001, which anchors the closing date.
